It cures numerous infections caused by bacteria, including ear, nose, skin, spreading cellulitis with severe dental abscesses, animal bites, infection in the respiratory tract, infection in the urinary tract, and soft tissue infections.

Amoxicillin acts by preventing bacterial cell wall synthesis; potassium clavulanate prevents the inactivation of amoxicillin by the action of beta-lactamase enzymes.
